UPDATED ON 9/17/26 AT 11:56 AM

Pools will be posted by 1:00 PM EST on Friday, September 18, 2026.

Location

Fulton Family YMCA
385 W Hanes Mill Rd
Winston-Salem, NC 27105

Match Procedures

  • The first serve is at 9:00 AM sharp — no exceptions.

  • If your opponent is not present and ready to play at 9:00 AM, please report immediately to the Tournament Hub.

  • All matches should begin as soon as the previous match concludes. Our goal is to stay on schedule with VolleyballLife and, whenever possible, finish ahead of schedule.

  • Teams are permitted a 5-minute warm-up before their first match only. Teams scheduled for the 9:00 AM match should begin warming up at approximately 8:50 AM.

Reffing Responsibilities

Teams are responsible for officiating their assigned matches.

Refs must keep the live score updated in VolleyballLife throughout the match. Accurate scoring allows the Tournament Hub to:

  • Monitor pool standings

  • Track active matches

  • Prepare upcoming teams for play

If you notice an incorrect score posted for your match, please notify the Tournament Hub immediately.

Vendors and Field Information

  • Please pick up all trash around your area before leaving. Trash bags will be available at the Tournament Hub. Help us leave the fields better than we found them!

  • League One Volleyball (LOVB) will be on-site Saturday and Sunday selling merchandise.

  • The Taco Lady will be available Saturday, and Tacos La Chata Candela will be available Sunday.

  • Papi's Empanadas will be available on Sunday.

  • Papa & Joe’s Italian Ice will be available Saturday, and Sunset Slush of Guilford County will be available Sunday.

  • Indoor restrooms will be available inside the YMCA building. A portable restroom will also be available.

  • Dogs are permitted along the outskirts of the fields. Please bring waste bags and clean up after your pet.

  • Free water and Powerade will be available near the Tournament Hub while supplies last. Please bring your own reusable cup or bottle for water. This is intended as a supplemental hydration option, so players should still arrive with enough drinks and hydration for the day. Once the daily supply is gone, it will not be replenished until the following day.

  • Complimentary leg recovery stations will be available for players. Please follow all posted instructions and wipe down the equipment after each use so it is ready for the next player.

  • Stop by the Tournament Hub to shop exclusive Behind the Ball apparel and grab the Official Carolina Grass Championship T-Shirt, available exclusively during the tournament weekend while supplies last!

Thank you for helping us take care of the facility, supporting our vendors, and making the tournament experience enjoyable for everyone!

Playoffs

Playoff advancement numbers will be announced the morning of each tournament day.

The Tournament Hub will post playoff brackets within approximately 15 minutes of the final pool match in each division. Most playoff matches will be scheduled to begin at least 30 minutes after the completion of pool play.

Please verify:

  • Court assignment

  • Match time

  • Officiating assignment

Semifinals & Finals

For all quarterfinal, semifinal, and championship matches, the reffing team will be the last losing team from the two matches feeding into that playoff game, regardless of what may be listed in VolleyballLife.

The Tournament Hub will announce any division-specific playoff formats when brackets are released.

Awards & Prize Pickup

All winners and runners-up must report to the Tournament Hub immediately following their championship match to claim prizes and take photos. All division champions will receive a Carolina Grass Championship Winner dri-fit shirt and cash payout.

Weather Policy

This tournament will operate rain or shine unless Behind the Ball Volleyball and AYOO Volleyball determine that weather or field conditions are no longer safe or suitable for play.

In the event lightning is detected within a 10-mile radius of the tournament site, all play will be immediately suspended. Competition may resume once 30 minutes have passed since the last detected lightning strike within the 10-mile radius.

We are fortunate to work closely with a professional meteorologist who actively monitors weather conditions leading up to and throughout the tournament weekend. Tournament staff will use current weather data, field conditions, and safety considerations when determining whether play should continue, be delayed, or be suspended.

Any weather-related schedule changes, delays, or other important updates will be communicated to participating teams as quickly as possible.

Thank you for participating in the Carolina Grass Championship. Let's have a great weekend of volleyball, sportsmanship, and competition. Good luck to all teams!
